The Pages Every Small Business Website Needs (and What Goes on Each)

The essential pages for a small business website, what to put on each one, and the optional pages that help with local SEO and conversions.

You don't need a fifty-page website. Most small local businesses do best with a focused site where every page has a clear job. Here's what to include.

1. Homepage

Its job: tell visitors in five seconds what you do, where, and what to do next. Include a clear headline (“Family dentistry in Ankeny”), one primary call to action, a short list of services, proof you're real (photos, reviews), and your contact details.

2. Services (one page per main service)

A separate page for each main service helps customers find exactly what they need and helps Google understand what you offer. Explain what's included, who it's for, rough pricing if you're comfortable sharing it, and how to get started.

3. About

People buy from people. Share who's behind the business, why you started it, and what makes you different. Real names and real photos beat stock images every time.

4. Contact

Tap-to-call phone number, a short form, email, hours, and your address or service area. If you have a storefront, add a map and parking tips.

5. Reviews or work examples

A gallery of real projects, a portfolio, or links to your real Google reviews. Never invented testimonials.

Pages that are often worth adding

  • FAQ: answer the questions you get on every call. It saves you time and helps visitors decide.
  • Service area: the towns you genuinely serve, with something useful to say about each.
  • Pricing: even ranges help people self-qualify.
  • Menu, booking or quote request: whatever action your customers most want to take.
  • Privacy policy: good practice whenever you collect information through forms or analytics.

Things to put on every page

  • Your phone number (tappable on mobile) and a call to action
  • Navigation that's easy to use on a phone
  • A footer with your name, service area and contact info
